Ottawa, Canada (AHN) -- An immigrant family from the Philippines boarded a flight on Monday and forgot their two-year-old child at the Vancouver international airport and only found out that the tot was missing when an airline company called during the family's trip. According to the boy's father, Jun Parreno, they had just arrived in Canada from the Philippines and they were running late on a connecting flight to Winnipeg when the mixed-up happened. Parreno said he was repacking his overweight bag and the connecting flight was just minutes away from departing when his family became separated. He thought his son was with his wife and the boy's grandparents who ran ahead of him so he did not bother to look for his son. Meanwhile, his wife thought that the baby was with his father who was left behind. The family seated separately on the plane and never thought that the baby was left behind. A security guard found the tot near the departure gate and surrendered the baby to the Air Canada officials who tracked down that his parents was already on the flight. Since the baby was so young, he wasn't issued a ticket, so authorities were unable to link him to his parents immediately. Local media said the baby was kept in Air Canada's office and gave the boy toys to play on to keep him busy until his parents arrived.
