Hollywood, CA (WFN) -- "Price is Right" announcer Rod Roddy is telling folks to "come on down" and get screened for colon cancer.

Roddy is a spokesman for the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance and is encouraging folks to get screened early.

He's speaking from experience: Roddy was diagnosed with a tumor the size of an orange in his colon in 2001 by accident while in the hospital for complications of a knee injury.

His doctors removed the tumor which he says could have been prevented had he not put off a screening for 13 years.

Roddy says he avoided getting tested because it involved cleansing out his colon beforehand and -- quote -- "I didn't want to sit on the toilet for a day."

Now, he spreads the word about getting tested in any way he can. But unfortunately, he won't be including any PSAs during "The Price is Right," like executive producer Bob Barker does for pet neutering.

In Roddy's words, "Bob says one charitable message is enough."
