Long Beach, CA (WFN) -- A church in Long Beach, California, has a real cross to bear -- trying to convert aliens into good Christians.

The members of Holy Splendor Ministries spend hours each week in prayer circles meditating on saving the souls of a race of evil extraterrestrials they believe are bent on Earth's destruction.

Holy Splendor spokesman Dr. Terry Johnson says there is evidence that an alien attack is close at hand, so the group is trying to send good vibes to the little green men before they arrive on Earth.

It's not easy. Johnson claims he's regularly abducted by E.T.s and they're not exactly open to Earth religion.

Still, he's confident that if enough people devote themselves to sending peace messages to the E.T.s, they'll nip their invasion plans in the bud and "work with us, instead of against us."

On the other hand, Johnson admits that some E.T. groups are skeptical about humans and are waiting to let George W. Bush destroy the planet before deciding what to do next.
