Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (WFN) -- Thanksgiving is traditionally a day when people pack on the pounds with high-calorie consumption of turkey and all the trimmings. But a Florida-based nutritionist says you can use those very same foods to help you lose weight the day after Turkey Day. Edita Kaye advocates a "Thanksgiving Leftover Diet" which she claims can help you lose up to a pound of flab overnight. The key is to eat certain foods at certain times of the day: Fibrous foods and carbohydrates are only eaten in the morning when they can be burned up quickly and high energy-metabolizing proteins can only pass your lips in the evening hours when you're less active. Kaye claims holiday foods like fruit cake, stuffing and mashed potatoes act as a "metabolic Saran Wrap" to block fat when eaten in the morning, while leftover turkey, ham and green beans keep your body busy burning calories if eaten after 12 noon. She says you don't need to limit the amount of food you eat either because, "Your body will naturally police itself."
