It's A Blue Christmas For Holiday Decorations

Stevens, PA (WFN) -- Over-the-top is out of vogue this year in the holiday decorating game.

That's the word from luxury marketing consultant Pam Danziger, who is predicting outdoor Christmas displays will be minimal this year.

She says last year many Americans went hog-wild with lights, tinsel and the works as a response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, but this year they'll be toning things down.

The reason? Danziger thinks many consumers aren't feeling festive this year, what with the recent sniper attacks, the down economy and the chance of war in Iraq.

As a result, folks who might have placed lights all over their house and a bright red Santa on their roof last year now will only bother to put lights around one measly window.

The holidays won't be entirely glum. Danziger says the greeting card industry will be booming this year because people are feeling the need to reach out to friends and loved ones even more.
