Derita, NC (WFN) -- Forget Bigfoot. The folks in Derita, North Carolina, have an even bigger monster on their hands: "Kudzilla," a giant kudzu plant that looks incredibly like Godzilla.

The Kudzilla creature was discovered six weeks ago by local Dale Hillyard, who saw the 30-foot-high weed growing on the side of the road.

Hillyard says kudzu is an "obnoxious weed" and has been terrorizing the Southern U.S. with its legendary fast-growth.

Now Kudzilla is even bigger than before and Hillyard says his neighbors are finally starting to notice.

Although most people think the Godzilla shape is accidental, Hillyard jokes that it may be Japan's way of attempting to take over the country.

Luckily, no kudzu versions of Rodan, Ghidrah or Gamera have been reported so far and Hillyard predicts Kudzilla will die out when the weather turns cold.
